Mock Crash April 16, 2008
The Albertville Fire Department, St. Michael Fire Department, Wright County Sherriff, Air Care, Allina Ambulance and Peterson Mortuary held a mock crash at the STMA High School on Wednesday April 16, 2008. The mock crash volunteers and all response teams were successful in their tasks.
The scenario was that a white 4-door sedan had some high school students going to prom and the driver was drinking. The white sedan hit a minivan that had a family of 3 in it, mother, daughter and father. When the vehicles impacted, the daughter in the minivan was thrown out of the vehicle and one prom student was also thrown through the windshield of the white sedan.
Another vehicle of students going to prom arrived on the scene, and emergency responders were called to the accident.
The student who was thrown through the windshield was a fatality. The daughter thrown from the minivan was unresponsive and not breathing upon arrival of the emergency responders. They were able to resuscitate her and were going to air lift her to the hospital, but the Air Care was unable to respond to the accident at the time so she was taken by ambulance to the hospital. The mother in the minivan along with one student in the white sedan had to be extricated from the vehicles. All other individuals involved in the crash were taken to local hospitals for examination.
Thank you to all who participated in the mock crash.
